Haughney named semifinalist for 2022 FCS Punter of the Year

Senior Patrick Haughney of the Holy Cross football team has been named a semifinalist for the 2022 FCS Punter of the Year award.

The candidates were selected and evaluated by the FCS Punter of the Year Award committee on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Emphasis was placed on net punting average, number of times a punt was inside the 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team's success.

Haughney is a three-time All-Patriot League honoree. So far in 2022, he has averaged 40.95 yards per punt, with 18 of his 38 punts falling inside the 20-yard line. He has had nine punts over 50 yards, including a season-long 63 yards.

A national voting body of FCS sports information directors, conference representatives and sports writers will choose the winner from the top 10 semifinalists. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 13.
