Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s ice hockey falls to #2 Quinnipiac

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to No. 2 Quinnipiac, 4-1, in non-conference action Friday night at the Hart Center.

The Bobcats improve to 15-1-3 while the Crusaders move to 5-13-1.

THE GOALTENDERS:
  • Crusaders: junior Jason Grande - 4-3-0, 24 saves, .889 save percentage.
  • Bobcats: Yaniv Perets – 15-1-3, 19 saves, .950 save percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two teams played even in the first period, with the Crusaders killing off the lone penalty of the first period.
  • Holy Cross got on the board first thanks to a goal by junior Lucas Thorne. Sophomore John Gelatt took a shot from the blue line, and after a possession battle in front of the net by freshman Matt DeBoer, Thorne was able to collect the loose puck and sneak it by Perets.
  • Quinnipiac responded with two goals of their own in an eight-minute span. Jacob Quillan scored both goals, with assists by Collin Graf and Christopher Tellier.
  • The final two goals by the Bobcats came on the power play, with one being an empty net strike.
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Grande has recorded 20+ saves in five of the seven games he has played in this season.
  • The Crusaders held the Bobcats to just two shots over their four power plays.
UP NEXT:
  • The Crusaders take on Clarkson on Satuday, January 7 at the Hart Center.
  • Puck drop is set for 4 p.m.
