Men's Ice Hockey Welcomes #2 Quinnipiac to the Hart Center

The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team welcomes No. 2 Quinnipiac University to the Hart Center on Friday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. The contest will be broadcasted regionally on NESN+ and through the NESN 360 app.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (5-12-1, 4-7-1 AHA):
  • The Crusaders swept Air Force on the road for the second time in as many years in their final two games before the holiday break (Dec. 2-3), taking Friday's matchup 4-1, and Saturday's 2-1.
  • Junior Jason Grande was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week after backstopping the Crusaders sweep of Air Force. Grande stopped 55 of 57 shots faced, giving him a 1.01 goals-against average and .965 save percentage over the two nights. He did not allow an even-strength goal on the series, as both of the goals he allowed were scored by the Air Force special teams unit.
  • Junior Jack Ricketts leads the squad in all offensive categories, posting seven goals and six assists for 13 points going into the break. Junior netminder Jason Grande holds a team-best 4-2 record, while sophomore Thomas Gale leads with a 2.77 goals against average and .898 save percentage.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC (14-1-3, 10-0-0 ECAC):

  • Quinnipiac, who currently stands at 14-1-3, was ranked #2 in the most recent USCHO poll.
  • The Bobcats have won 12 of their last 13 matchups, with their last loss coming Oct. 22 at Maine.
  • Netminder Yaniv Perets currently stands No. 2 in the country in win percentage, as he has backstopped every game for the Bobcats this season. He has posted a 1.82 goals against average and .918 save percentage through those appearances.

LAST TIME THEY MET:

  • All time, the Crusaders are 4-31-4 against the Bobcats, with three of those wins coming at home.
  • In their last meeting on Oct. 26, 2022, Quinnipiac, who was No. 5 at the time, took the matchup 5-2 in Hamden, Conn.
  • The last time the Crusaders beat the Bobcats was Dec. 5, 2004 when Holy Cross won 4-3 in overtime at the Hart Center.
