WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
Gracyn Benck of the Holy Cross volleyball team has been selected to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
This is the second academic honor for Benck this year as she was named Academic All-Patriot League after a vote by the conference sports information directors. By earning Academic All-District honors, Benck now be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors. The Academic All-America team will be announced in early December.
Benck is graduating in May with a degree in biology. She posted a 3.66 cumulative GPA. This season, she appeared in all 27 contests for the Crusaders totaling the second most kills (185) and kills per set (2.06) on the team while recording 44 digs, 35 blocks, seven aces and two assists. Benck moved into the top-10 in program history in kills (733) this year and was named to the 2022 Iona Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Benck has earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honors three times (2019, 2020, 2021) and worked closely with the faculty of the Deaf Studies Department on campus to help organize the Deaf* Awareness Game against Bucknell that included a silent first set to the Crusaders' 8th point of the opening set and members of the local hearing impaired community to attend the match.
