Crusaders run away with 95-61 victory

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior guard Bo Montgomery totaled 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, as the Holy Cross men's basketball team posted a 95-61 victory over Colby-Sawyer at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 2-5 on the season, while the Chargers fall to 1-4 overall.

Holy Cross hit 52.8 percent of its field goal attempts and 53.8 percent of its three-pointers on the day, in addition to holding a 42-34 rebounding advantage and committing just eight turnovers. Colby-Sawyer was only able to make 37.7 percent of its shots from the floor.

The Crusaders opened the game with a 16-13 lead after the first eight minutes of play, before scoring 13 straight points to go in front by 16 (29-13). Freshman guard Will Batchelder scored six points during that run, while junior forward Louth-M Coulibaly added four points. Holy Cross would increase its advantage to 19 points later in the half, before going on to take a 46-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Crusaders were still up by 15 (57-42) with 14:51 left in regulation, before using a 12-2 spurt to put the game away. Holy Cross would eventually lead by as many as 36 points and went on to post a 34-point victory.

Batchelder finished the game with 17 points and four assists, while junior guard Joe Octave added 13 points and three rebounds. Sophomore forward Caleb Kenney scored 13 points, and senior forward Gerrale Gates totaled 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. The Chargers were led by Scott Lampron with 11 points.

The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 30, when they play host to Harvard at 7:00 p.m.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Holy Cross posted a season-high 24 assists on 38 made baskets.
• The Crusaders' downed a season-best 53.8 percent of their shots from three-point range (14 of 26).
• Holy Cross has won eight straight games when hitting at least 50 percent of its field goal attempts.
