Men’s ice hockey to play Brown, New Hampshire this weekend

The Holy Cross men's ice hockey program will compete in two games this weekend, the first on Friday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. on the road against Brown and then the team will return home to the Hart Center Rink on Saturday, Nov. 26 for a 7 p.m. tilt with New Hampshire. The contest with Brown will stream live through ESPN+ while the home matchup with New Hampshire will be broadcasted regionally on NESN+ and through the NESN 360 app.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-11-1, 2-7-1 AHA):
  • The Crusaders have lost four straight games including a 5-1 setback to #13 Merrimack on Tuesday. Senior Alex Peterson netted the lone goal for Holy Cross in the defeat.
  • During their four game losing skid, Holy Cross has been outscored 16-to-4.
  • The Crusaders are 0-for-19 since their last power play goal on Friday, Nov. 4 at Canisius.
  • Junior Jack Ricketts and sophomore Liam McLinskey are tied for the team lead in goals with five. Ricketts is the squad leader with nine points. McLinskey has two of the four Crusader power play goals this season.
BROWN AT A GLANCE (1-6-1, 1-6-1 ECAC):
  • Brown comes into the matchup losers of four straight games including a 5-1 defeat to conference opponent Cornell last Saturday. Matt Sutton scored the lone goal, a shorthanded score for the Bears.
  • During their four game losing streak, Brown has been outscored 13-to-6 by their opponents.
  • The Bears power play ranks 43rd in the NCAA (16.0%) and seventh in the ECAC while their penalty kill is 54th in the NCAA (72.7%).
  • The Crusaders lead the series with the Bears 7-6-0.
  • Last time they met on Nov. 26 2021, Holy Cross rolled to a 5-1 victory. Five different Crusaders scored goals in the victory while sophomore John Gelatt tallied two assists.
  • Holy Cross holds a 2-4-0 record on the road at Brown.
 
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE (3-10-1, 0-9-1 HE):
  • New Hampshire has been defeated in seven straight meetings including a 4-2 defeat to #15 Massachusetts last Friday evening. Ryan Black put the Wildcats ahead 2-0 in late in the first period, but the Minutemen stormed back with four unanswered goals to take the lead.
  • In those seven setbacks, UNH has been outscored 23-to-8.
  • The Wildcats are in last place in the Hockey East with only two points, earning a tie against #13 Providence before losing 1-0 in the shootout and a 2-1 overtime loss to Vermont.
  • New Hampshire's 16.7% power play success rate ranks 39th in the nation. Their penalty kill percentage is at 80.9% which ranks 29th in Division I.
  • Holy Cross is 0-3-0 in the series history with New Hampshire.  
  • In their last meeting, on Nov. 27, 2021, the Crusaders fell 3-2 in overtime to the Wildcats.
  • The Crusaders have never hosted the Wildcats at the Hart Center Rink.
