Crusaders travel for non-conference contest with Brown

The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team prepares for non-conference contest with Brown on Nov. 22. The Crusaders will travel to Providence on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. slot at Meehan Auditorium. 
 
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (2-13-1, 1-11-0 Hockey East): 
  • Holy Cross enters the weekend with an overall mark of 2-13-1 and 1-11-0 in Hockey East standings. Most recently, they suffered two losses to Hockey East opponent No. 7/8 Northeastern. The Crusaders fell 2-1 in Friday's contest and lost 5-2 on Saturday night. Freshman Casey Borgiel, senior Kailey Langefels and junior Bryn Saarela all notched a goal during the weekend.
  • Saarela increased her team-high point total to seven, from three goals and four assists. Additionally, she leads the team in assists alongside junior Millie Sirum who added her fourth on Saturday.
  • Freshman Alexia Moreau leads the team in goals with four.
  • The Crusaders have maintained close battles during faceoffs, winning forty-five percent on the season. Senior Mary Edmonds leads the team with 149 wins, followed by Moreau with 106. 
  • The Crusaders have killed seventy-four percent of their penalties and are fifteen percent on the powerplay. They have scored a power play goal in their last three games.
  • The Holy Cross defense added thirty more blocks during the weekend. They have blocked 197 shots compared to their opponents' 128. Sophomore Emma Min still leads the roster with 26 blocks.
  • Junior goalie Madison Beck and freshman Brooke Loranger have split time in net for Holy Cross this season. Beck had control of the net for the weekend series with Northeastern. She owns 319 saves, a save-percentage of .917 and a goals-against average of 2.90 in 12 games.
  • Loranger has seen action in seven games for the Crusaders owning 181 saves with a save percentage of .900 and goals-against average of 3.35. She set a new single-game career high in saves with 42 against Maine.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE BEARS (3-4-1, 2-2-0 ECAC): 
  • Brown has played four conference games coming into Tuesday's game. Most recently, they were swept by No. 12 Penn State in a road series on Nov. 13 and 14. The Bears were shut out 3-0 in the first game, then lost 2-4 the following day.
  • The Bears have tallied three power play goals on the year and hold an eighty-two percent penalty kill rating.
  • Freshman Jade Iginla leads the Bears in points with 5. Additionally, she holds the team-high in goals with three, alongside sophomores Anna Hurd and Oliva Williamson.
  • Junior Jess Ciarrocchi owns the most assists with 4.
  • Junior Kaley Doyle has spent the majority of the season in goal for Brown. In six games, Doyle has posted 165 saves. She holds a 2.12 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
