ORONO, ME. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team took their second loss of the weekend against Maine 4-1 on Saturday. The Crusaders move to 2-11-1 and 1-9-0 in Hockey East standings while the Black Bears improve to 8-7-0 (6-4-0 Hockey East).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Crusaders were first on the board with a power play goal from freshman Alexia Moreau two minutes into the first period. She was assisted by junior Bryn Saarela and senior Kailey Langefels.
• The Black Bears scored found the equalizing goal at 3:49 in the first period.
• Maine continued their series of power play goals, scoring one in the second and another in the third.
• The Black Bear's final goal was at full strength at 15:21 in the third period.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Moreau tallied her fourth goal of the season becoming the team leader for most goals. Saarela added to her point total, now leading the team with six.
• Junior goalie Madison Beck posted season-high 37 saves. She now owns a 2.75 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.
• Shots on goal fell in favor of the Black Bears, 41-27.
• The faceoff battle was even at the end of three periods, 30-30. Moreau led the Crusaders with 11 wins, followed by senior Mary Edmonds who had 10. 
• The Crusaders defense continued their streak in blocked shots. They tallied 17, led by sophomore defenseman Emilie Fortunato (3). She ranks second in team standings for most blocks with 20, alongside sophomore Carmen Elliott.

UP NEXT: 

• Holy Cross will return to action on Nov. 18 and 19 as they face Hockey East opponent Northeastern. The Crusaders will travel to Boston for Friday's matchup, then return home for a night game in Worcester.
