Holy Cross ready for game at Bucknell

The Holy Cross men's soccer team will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 29, when it heads to Bucknell for a 2:00 p.m. game. 

Things to Know About the Crusaders (4-8-4, 0-4-3 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross has an overall record of 4-8-4 on the season, with an 0-4-3 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are coming off a 1-1 tie with Navy last Saturday.
• Sophomore forward Evan Jones is once again among the offensive leaders for Holy Cross this fall, and paces the team in scoring with 11 points on five goals and one assist. During the Navy game, he scored in the 25th minute to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead. Jones previously netted a goal against Army, while scoring three times in the win at UMass Lowell to become the first Holy Cross player with a hat trick since 2013. In 35 career games played, he has now totaled 13 goals and seven assists for 33 points.
• Senior midfielder Jack Ostrosky currently ranks second on the team with four goals scored this season. During the contest at Lehigh, he scored with less than five minutes remaining to tie up the game at 2-2. Ostrosky previously netted a goal against Hartford, while scoring twice in the victory over Iona. Over the course of his collegiate career, he now has eight goals and five assists for 21 points in 50 games played.
• Senior midfielder Matt McGonigle scored his first goal of the season during the victory over UMass Lowell, then netted the game-winning goal against Hartford. On the year, is tied for second on the team in scoring with two goals and four assists for eight points. McGonigle has now totaled 22 points on six goals and 10 assists in 46 career games played.
• McGonigle, Ostrosky and senior defender Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.

Scouting the Bison (2-12-1, 1-5-1 Patriot League):
• Bucknell owns an overall mark of 2-12-1 on the year, with a 1-5-1 record in the Patriot League. The Bison are coming off a 1-1 tie with Colgate last Saturday.
• Senior midfielder Mo Tall currently leads the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists.
• Freshman Freddie Lapworth has started Bucknell's last seven games in goal, posting a 1.86 goals against average with 34 saves.

Series History:
• The Bison hold a narrow 13-11-7 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
• Holy Cross and Bucknell last met on Oct. 16, 2021, when the Crusaders won 4-1 in Worcester. Max Krause scored two goals on the day, while Evan Jones and Jake Williams both added a goal and an assist.
