WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Josh Tubbs posted a shutout with seven saves, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team played American to a 0-0 tie at Reeves Field. The Crusaders move to 4-7-3 overall and 0-4-2 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles now stand 5-3-5 on the year and 3-1-2 in the conference.
Tubbs made five of his saves in the second half, as the Holy Cross defense was able to hold American at bay throughout the afternoon. The Crusaders had several good scoring chances of their own, including a header by sophomore forward
Evan Jones in the 44th minute that went off the crossbar. But neither team was able to break through onto the scoreboard and the game ended in a draw.
The Eagles finished the game with a 13-5 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 18, when it heads to Harvard for a 7:00 p.m. game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Tubbs posted his second shutout of the season.
• Tubbs also set a new career high with his seven saves.
