PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team fell to No. 14 Providence, 4-0, on Friday, Oct. 14 at Schneider Arena.
Holy Cross (2-3-0, 1-2-0 Hockey East) was led by freshman forwards Lane Lewis and Alexia Moreau, who both landed three shots on goal. Senior defenseman Kailey Langefels and sophomore defensemen Emilie Fortunato and Carmen Elliott each blocked a team-leading three shots for the Crusaders. The Crusaders, as a team, blocked 12 Providence shots.
Sandra Abstreiter finished with 11 saves for the Friars in the shutout (4-1-1, 1-0-0 Hockey East).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first frame, Brooke Becker put the Friars on the board just 3:03 into the second period. Less than a minute later, a goal from Reichen Kirchmair made it a 2-0 game.
- That lead extended to 3-0 by the 5:31 mark of the second after Hunter Barnett scored.
- The Crusaders were unable to capitalize in the third period, even with a late power-play opportunity; Lindsay Bochna scored the Friars' fourth goal of the game with 14 seconds remaining.

- Holy Cross and Providence round out the home-and-home series on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
