Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Crusaders play Lehigh to 2-2 draw

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior midfielder Bergin Kranz and senior midfielder Jack Ostrosky both scored goals as the Holy Cross men's soccer team tied Lehigh 2-2 at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Crusaders move to 4-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Patriot League, while the Mountain Hawks now stand 2-5-2 on the year and 1-2-1 in the conference.

Lehigh opened the scoring in the 40th minute when Dominic Flowers scored from 17 yards out just inside the top of the penalty box. Holy Cross responded in the 58th minute on a goal from Kranz to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore midfielder Jake Williams won a loose ball near midfield and played it sophomore midfielder Liam Coffey, then Coffey passed the ball to Kranz on the left wing where he sent a rocket into the net from 20 yards out above the top left side of the box.

The Mountain Hawks went back in front 2-1 in the 80th minute on a goal by Jack Sarkos from 14 yards out in the center of the box. But in the 86th minute, Ostrosky scored for the Crusaders to tie the game at 2-2 and earn the tie. Senior defender Taj Salawu began the play by sending a throw in into the box, where sophomore forward Evan Jones kept the ball alive with a bicycle kick before Ostrosky found the net from six yards out near the right post.

Holy Cross finished the game with a 13-12 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Josh Tubbs made four saves for the Crusaders, while Ryan Gross had six saves for Lehigh.

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when they play host to Dartmouth at 6:00 p.m.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Ostrosky's goal was his fourth of the season, tying for the team lead.
• Kranz now ranks sixth on the team in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist this year.
