WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper
Kyle Mather posted a shutout with three saves, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team played Dartmouth to a 0-0 tie at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. The Crusaders move to 4-6-2 on the season, while the Big Green now stands 2-3-3 overall.
Mather made all three of his saves in the first half, as the Holy Cross defense was able to hold Dartmouth at bay throughout the night. The Crusaders had several good scoring chances of their own and put four of their shots on goal, but were unable to break through onto the scoreboard.
The Big Green finished the game with a narrow 9-7 advantage in shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when it plays host to Loyola (Md.) at 12:00 p.m.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Crusaders wore pink jerseys and socks against Dartmouth, playing their annual Pink Game as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
• Mather recorded the first shutout of his collegiate career, while making his first career start.
• Mather also set a new career high with his three saves.
