The Holy Cross men's basketball team hits the road this week when it heads to Loyola (Md.) for a 7:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The contest between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross enters the game with an overall record of 2-11 and an 0-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are coming off a 70-56 setback against Navy in their conference opener, and will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in blocked shots (3.9 blocks per game), while standing second in three-point field goal percentage (35.7 percent) and fourth in steals (6.9 steals per game).
Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has led the Crusaders by averaging 12.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while hitting 43.8 percent (14 of 32) of his attempts from three-point range. Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has also been playing well, with averages of 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest. In addition, Sophomore guard
Judson Martindale has averaged 11.4 points and 4.6 boards per game.
Loyola currently has an overall record of 6-6 on the season with an 0-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds have dropped two of their last three games, including a 77-74 overtime loss at Army on Saturday. Junior guard Cam Spencer has led the team by averaging 18.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game, while making 89.6 percent (43 of 48) of his free throws. Senior guard Jaylin Andrews has also been playing well, with averages of 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per contest.
After the game at Loyola, Holy Cross will return home to face Lafayette on Friday, Jan. 7, at 7:00 p.m.
