Women's hockey set to host BU, UConn

The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will host a pair of Hockey East opponents, with matchups slated against Boston University on Friday, Jan. 28 and against Connecticut on Sunday, Jan. 30. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. against BU and at 2 p.m. against the Huskies at the Hart Center Rink.

There will be no broadcast for Friday's contest, while Sunday's game will be streamed on College Sports Live.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (3-20, 1-17 Hockey East):
  • The Crusaders most recently faced Boston College on Jan. 21 and 22, with the Eagles taking a pair of wins.
  • Senior captain Bailey Bennett recorded a goal for the Crusaders at Conte Forum, while senior captain Carlie Magier had a goal at the Hart Center.
  • Magier became the first Crusader this year to record multiple power-play goals after scoring her second of the season. She is now also tied for the team lead in points, with eight on the year.
  • Junior defenseman Kailey Langefels ranks tied for fifth in Hockey East with 43 blocked shots this season.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS (9-9-4, 8-6-3 Hockey East):
  • BU came up short in its most recent three contests, including a pair of setbacks to No. 3 Northeastern.
  • Courtney Correia, Catherine Foulem and Kaleigh Donnelly each recorded a goal for the Terriers in a 6-3 loss to the Huskies on Jan. 21. Correia has notched at least one point in five of her last six games.
  • This year, Correia leads the Terriers with 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists.
  • In net, Kate Stuart has recorded a goals-against average of 2.18 and .924 save percentage in 14 appearances.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES (19-5-2, 13-4-2 Hockey East):
  • UConn enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak; most recently, the Huskies swept a home series against New Hampshire on Jan. 24 and 25.
  • The Huskies will face Boston College on Friday before heading to Worcester.
  • Morgan Wabick and Natalie Snodgrass are tied for a team-high 22 points this season.
  • With 76 goals this year, UConn ranks second in Hockey East in scoring.
  • Megan Warrener (1.23 goals-against average) and Samantha Carpentier-Yelle (1.80 goals-against average) have split time in net this season. The Huskies have conceded just 43 goals on the year.
  • This contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29, but was postponed due to anticipated inclement weather.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross earned its first win over Boston University in program history with a 2-0 shutout over the Terriers on Nov. 11 before BU pulled away to earn a 3-1 victory on Nov. 12.
  • Sophomore goaltender Madison Beck earned her first career win with the 29-save shutout. Junior forward Darci Johal scored a goal in each contest over the weekend. Freshman defenseman Emilie Fortunato had a three point weekend, including assisting on each of the goals in the win over BU.
  • Against UConn on Dec. 3 and 4, Holy Cross fell in both contests. Johal had the lone goal of the weekend for the Crusaders.
