Men's hockey set to visit AIC

The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team will head to face American International College in a pair of road games on Thursday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 29. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday at the MassMutual Center and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (6-17-2, 4-10-2 AHA):
  • Holy Cross split a weekend series with Army on the road, winning the opening contest on Friday by a score of 3-1 before falling on Saturday, 4-1.
  • In the victory, senior alternate captain Ryan Leibold scored a pair of goals, bringing his season total to a team-best eight goals and a team-leading 20 points.
  • Leibold ranks 16th nationally in faceoff wins, with 255 on the season.
  • Senior alternate captain Anthony Vincent scored a goal in each of the two games at Army.
  • Vincent has scored a goal in four of his last five contests.
  • Junior goaltender Matt Radomsky was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week for his performance against the Black Knights. Radomsky started both of Holy Cross' contests against Army, allowing four total goals and recording a save percentage of .945.
  • Radomsky is now a five-time Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week selection throughout his career, as he earned the honor four times during his freshman season.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS (13-9-1, 12-4-0 AHA):
  • AIC is currently on the longest active winning streak of any Division I team, having won its last 10 games and outscoring its opponents 40-20 during that stretch.
  • Most recently, the Yellow Jackets swept a weekend series at Sacred Heart on Friday and Saturday, winning by scores of 4-2 and 3-1.
  • Brian Rigali and Chris Theodore are tied for the team lead with 18 points on the season; Jake Stella has tallied 17.
  • Jake Kucharski has started 15 games in net for AIC, holding a .904 save percentage and 2.60 goals-against average. Both Kucharski (six games played) and Alec Calvaruso (four games played) have a 2.00 GAA during the streak. 
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross hosted AIC for a pair of contests this season on Jan. 8 and 9.
  • AIC won the opener, 2-0, before taking a 5-2 victory in the second contest.
  • Sophomore forward Jack Ricketts scored a pair of first-period goals for Holy Cross just 2:02 apart in the weekend finale, including a power-play tally. Junior defenseman Nick Hale assisted on both goals.
