WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team defeated Army West Point, 3-1, on Friday, Jan. 21 at Tate Rink.
Senior alternate captain
Ryan Leibold notched a pair of goals to lead Holy Cross (6-16-2, 4-9-2 AHA) to the victory; senior alternate captain
Anthony Vincent had another goal, and junior goaltender
Matt Radomsky stopped 34 shots.
Coby Mack scored the lone goal of the evening for Army (8-11-3, 6-7-2 AHA).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the two teams played to a scoreless first, Vincent opened the scoring for Holy Cross at 4:05 of the second.
- Army was able to kill off a 5-on-3 and a five-minute major, but the Crusaders quelled any momentum by the Black Knights after Leibold gave Holy Cross a 2-0 lead at 14:38 of the second.
- Mack cut the Holy Cross advantage in half after scoring at 13:38 of the third.
- Leibold's empty-netter with 2:05 left gave the Crusaders an insurance goal and a 3-1 edge.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Leibold extended his team-leading goal total to eight and team-best point total to 20 on the season.
- Radomsky's 34 saves were a season high.
