Women's hockey set for series vs. Boston College

The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will play a weekend series against Boston College on Friday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 22. The Crusaders will open the weekend with a 2 p.m. matchup at Conte Forum on Friday before heading home to host the Eagles at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (3-18-0, 1-15-0 Hockey East):
  • Holy Cross hosted Vermont on Monday, Jan. 17 and Tuesday, Jan. 18, with the Catamounts sweeping the two-game set.
  • Senior Sommer Ross scored her second goal of the season in Monday's game. She is one of seven Crusaders with multiple goals this year.
  • Junior defenseman Kailey Langefels ranks fifth in Hockey East with 40 blocks on the season; she registered six blocked shots in the two games against Vermont this week.
  • Saturday's game against the Eagles will kick off a four-game homestand for the Crusaders.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (10-11-0, 8-8-0 Hockey East):
  • Boston College has dropped four straight contests, including most recently falling, 5-0, to No. 3 Northeastern on Tuesday.
  • The Eagles' most recent wins came in a pair of overtime victories over Maine on Dec. 3 and 4. They have played five overtime contests this year, winning four of those matchups.
  • Forward Abby Newhook has led the team this season in scoring, with nine goals and a total of 17 points. Forward Hannah Bilka has totaled 16 points off eight goals and eight assists.
  • Goaltender Abigail Levy has appeared in every contest for the Eagles this year, recording a .933 save percentage and a 2.62 goals-against average.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross traveled to Chestnut Hill on Nov. 19, falling to the Eagles by a score of 4-2.
  • After Boston College took an early 2-0 lead in that game, the Crusaders stormed back with goals from sophomore Bryn Saarela and junior Mary Edmonds to tie things up. However, the Eagles scored a pair of goals in the third period to secure the victory.
