WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team couldn't get past Canisius, falling 2-1 on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Hart Center Rink.

Bobby Young had the lone goal for Holy Cross (5-16-2, 3-9-2 AHA) with a third-period tally.
Goaltender Jacob Barczewski stood tall for Canisius (11-9-3, 8-6-2), stopping 43 of the 44 Holy Cross shots on net he faced. The Crusaders outshot the Golden Griffins 44-15 on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite Holy Cross outshooting Canisius 10-2 in the opening frame, neither team could get on the board in the first period.
- The Golden Griffins broke through in the second period, when Austin Alger scored 7:50 into the frame. They then took a 2-0 lead at 4:14 in the third with a power-play goal from Lee Lapid.
- Young's goal at 9:04 of the third brought Holy Cross within 2-1; Barczewski stood on his head throughout the frame for Canisius, making 17 third-period stops to preserve the victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Holy Cross' 44 shots on goal were a season high.

- The Crusaders hit the road for the first time since Nov. 27 when they travel to face Army West Point on Jan. 21 and 22.
