The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team will host Canisius in a pair of Atlantic Hockey home games on Friday, Jan. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Hart Center Rink. Puck drop on Friday is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday's game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (5-15-1, 3-6-1 AHA)
- Holy Cross comes off a 1-2 week, defeating Vermont on Jan. 4 before falling to AIC on Jan. 8 and 9.
- Sophomore right wing Jack Ricketts scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart in the opening frame of the Jan. 9 contest against AIC for the first multi-goal game of his career.
- Ricketts' game was the second multi-goal game by a Crusader this season; freshman forward John Gelatt had two goals against Niagara on Dec. 4.
- Junior defenseman Nick Hale had a pair of assists for the Crusaders in Sunday's contest. He ranks second on the team with 16 points while having recorded a team-best 13 assists on the year.
- Senior captain Matt Slick blocked five shots against AIC on Jan. 8, a career single-game best.
- Senior alternate captain Ryan Leibold leads the team with 18 points this season, ranking second in Atlantic Hockey.
- The Crusaders' weekend series against Canisius will round out a seven-game homestand for Holy Cross.
SCOUTING CANISIUS (10-9-2, 7-6-1 AHA):
- The Golden Griffins most recently split a weekend series at Army, defeating the Black Knights, 5-3, on Jan. 7 before falling short in a 3-0 tilt on Jan. 8.
- With 69 goals this season, Canisius leads Atlantic Hockey offensively, while also leading the conference in shot percentage (.117) and blocked shots (341).
- Keaton Mastrodonato leads all Atlantic Hockey skaters with 22 points this season. Mitchell Martan has a league-leading 14 assists on the year.
- Goaltender Jacob Barczewski has recorded a .919 save percentage and a 2.61 goals-against average this year.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- The last matchup between Canisius and Holy Cross took place on Dec. 28 and 29, 2019, a road series where the Golden Griffins earned the sweep.
- This will be the first time since Oct. 2018 that Canisius has traveled to Worcester since 2018.
