ORONO, Maine — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team came up short against the University of Maine, falling 4-1 at Alfond Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
Senior Emma Lange scored the lone goal of the afternoon for the Crusaders (3-16-0, 1-13-0 Hockey East). Ida Kuoppala led Maine (8-13-1, 6-8-1 Hockey East) with three points on a goal and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Maine got out to 3-0 lead by the halfway point of the second period. After a first-period tally by Morgan Trimper, Bailey Oakes scored on the power play at 6:11 of the second period and Maddie Giordano added another goal at 8:49.
- Lange put Holy Cross on the board with 1:25 left in the second after connecting on a pass from junior Darci Johal.
- Kuoppala scored just 1:09 into the third period to extend the Maine advantage.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Lange's appearance against Maine on Tuesday marked her 100th career game.
- Lange's goal was her first of the season.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders' series against Vermont, previously scheduled for Jan. 13 and 14 at the Hart Center Rink, has been postponed.
- Holy Cross, Vermont and Hockey East are currently working to reschedule the two games to a later date.
