The Holy Cross football team earned a spot in both sets of final FCS national rankings released by Stats Perform and the American Football Coaches Association on Monday, Jan. 10.
The Crusaders ranked 19
th in the Stats Perform poll and were selected 22
nd in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
This year, Holy Cross finished with a 10-3 record, marking its first 10-win season since 1991. With a 6-0 record in conference play, the Crusaders won their most Patriot League games in program history and finished a full conference slate undefeated for the first time since 1991.
Holy Cross earned its third consecutive Patriot League title and FCS playoff berth during the 2021 season, with the Crusaders winning an FCS playoff game for the first time in program history with a 13-10 victory over Sacred Heart on Nov. 27.
In non-league play, Holy Cross defeated an FBS opponent in the University of Connecticut, along with recording victories at Yale and Monmouth.
As a team, Holy Cross led all FCS teams in total defense, allowing just 254.5 yards per game. The Crusaders also ranked seventh nationally in rushing defense (88.4 yards per game) and passing yards allowed (166.1 yards per game).
