Crusaders set for home game with Colgate

The Holy Cross men's soccer team returns home to face Colgate on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 6:00 p.m.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (5-2-2, 2-0-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 5-2-2 so far this season with a 2-0-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are currently tied for first place in the conference with Army West Point.
• The Crusaders' two conference wins so far this year have come over Loyola (Md.) and American, the teams which were picked first and second in the 2021 Patriot League preseason poll.
• Senior forward Dylan Scanley scored the game-winning goal during Holy Cross' 1-0 victory at Loyola on Saturday. He now has five points this season on two goals and one assist, to rank third on the team in scoring. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Scanley has totaled eight goals and three assists for 19 points in 46 games played.
• Junior Jimmy Joyce has started all nine of Holy Cross' games in goal this season, posting a 5-2-2 record with 26 saves and a 1.16 goals against average. He has also recorded three shutouts on the year, the most recent coming in Saturday's 1-0 victory at Loyola. In addition, Joyce set a new career high with six saves at Iona.
• Freshman forward Evan Jones leads the team in scoring with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Two of his goals have come in the last four games, as he scored against both Boston College and American. Jones' 10 points on the year are currently the most of any freshman in the Patriot League.
• Senior midfielder Max Krause is now in his fifth year with the Crusaders, after earning first team All-Patriot League honors in the spring of 2021. He currently ranks second on the team in scoring with nine points on two goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, Krause has played in 60 games with 48 starts, recording 11 goals and 18 assists for 40 points. His 18 career assists are the tied for the most in program history with Wayne Mullin (1985-1988), while his 40 points rank 13th all-time.
• Krause, junior midfielder Matt McGonigle and junior defender Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.

Scouting the Raiders (0-8-0, 0-2-0 Patriot League):
• Colgate stands 0-8-0 this season with an 0-2-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Raiders have lost their first two conference games to Army and Navy by identical 3-0 scores.
• The Raiders have scored just one goal in their first eight games of the year, coming from senior forward Ryan Krueger.
• Senior Nick Gerlach has started six games in goal for Colgate, posting a 1.87 goals against average with 33 saves.

Series History:
• The Raiders hold an 18-9-6 lead in the all-time series with the Crusaders, including three straight victories.
• Holy Cross and Colgate last played on Nov. 6, 2019, when the Raiders won 2-1 in Worcester.
