Maddie DeNucci won in three sets at No. 1 singles to lift the Holy Cross women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Connecticut College at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Camels open the year at 0-1 overall.
In doubles action, DeNucci and freshman
Ahana Nagarkatti won 6-2 at the No. 1 spot, but Connecticut College has victories at both No. 2 and No 3 to take the doubles point.
Singles action began with Holy Cross posting wins at No. 2 (Nagarkatti, 6-2, 6-4), No. 5 (junior
Hanna Beck, 6-1, 6-1) and No. 6 (freshman
Caroline Fredey, 6-3, 6-0), while the Camels had victories at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. With the match tied at 3-3, everything came down to the No. 1 singles match, where DeNucci won 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 to give Holy Cross the victory.
Holy Cross returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 30, when it plays host to Endicott at 4:00 p.m.
