BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior forward
Katie Quinn scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, but the Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated by Lehigh 2-1 at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Crusaders fall to 1-9-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Patriot League, while the Mountain Hawks improve to 4-4-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in the conference.
Lehigh opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Corinne Lyght took a pass from Hope Flanegin and dribbled into the right side of the box before scoring from 12 yards out. Holy Cross responded in the 39th minute, as Quinn look a pass from sophomore forward
Ellie Zern and found the net from 30 yards away just outside the top right side of the box. But in the 80 th minute, the Mountain Hawks scored the eventual game winner when Ava Schaller gathered a loose ball in the box and scored from 12 yards out.
Freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin made four saves on the afternoon, while Violette Bonvallet had one save for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks finished the day with an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Oct. 3, when the play host to Bucknell at 1:00 p.m.
