Ahana Nagarkatti both won two matches as the Holy Cross women's tennis team defeated St. Anselm 4-3 at the Derryfield School. The Crusaders improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 1-4 overall.
DeNucci and Nagarkatti began the day by posting a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. But St. Anselm won at both No. 2 and No. 3 to claim the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.
Holy Cross came back to capture four of the six singles matches and earn the victory. Junior
Hanna Beck's 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles clinched the match for the Crusaders. Other winners included DeNucci at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), Nagarkatti at No. 2 (6-0, 6-3) and freshman
Caroline Fredey at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2).
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22, when it plays host to Endicott at 4:00 p.m.
