Ahana Nagarkatti all won two matches as the Holy Cross women's tennis team defeated Mount Holyoke 8-1 at the Mount Holyoke Field House. The Crusaders start the dual match portion of their season at 1-0, while the Lyons begin the year at 0-1.
Holy Cross started the night by sweeping all three of the doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead. DeNucci and Nagarkatti led the way by winning 8-4 at the No. 1 spot. Beck and junior
Lauren Chilton posted an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while junior
Melissa Caiola and O'Melveny won 8-6 at No. 3.
The Crusaders then took five of the six singles matches to come away with the victory. O'Melveny's 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles clinched the match for Holy Cross. Other winners included DeNucci at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2), Nagarkatti at No. 2 (6-4, 6-1), Beck at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0) and freshman
Caroline Fredey at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2).
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 18, when it travels to St. Anselm for a 1:00 p.m. match.
