Quinn scores as women's soccer falls short vs. Siena

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell short against Siena, 2-1, at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium on Monday, August 23 in the Crusaders' home opener.

With Holy Cross (0-2) trailing 2-0 entering the 82nd minute, junior forward Katie Quinn had an unassisted tally to notch her first goal of the season and bring the Crusaders within a goal, but Siena (2-0) held off any further Crusader scoring attempt.

Both of the Saints' goals came in the first half. Siena got on the board first in the 21st minute with a goal from Ashleigh Sarafin, and added on another goal from Rebecca Rolland in the 37th minute off a corner kick.

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Dubin made three saves for the Crusaders, while Brooke Boermeester had four saves for the Saints.

The Crusaders return to action on Friday, August 27 when they face Dartmouth on the road at 7 p.m.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Quinn, who recorded Holy Cross' first goal of the season, is one of three returning goal scorers for the Crusaders from the shortened spring 2021 season. Holy Cross returns all of its goal scorers from a season ago.
