WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell short against Siena, 2-1, at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium on Monday, August 23 in the Crusaders' home opener.
With Holy Cross (0-2) trailing 2-0 entering the 82
nd minute, junior forward
Katie Quinn had an unassisted tally to notch her first goal of the season and bring the Crusaders within a goal, but Siena (2-0) held off any further Crusader scoring attempt.
Both of the Saints' goals came in the first half. Siena got on the board first in the 21
st minute with a goal from Ashleigh Sarafin, and added on another goal from Rebecca Rolland in the 37
th minute off a corner kick.
Freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Dubin made three saves for the Crusaders, while Brooke Boermeester had four saves for the Saints.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, August 27 when they face Dartmouth on the road at 7 p.m.
