The Holy Cross men's soccer team will play its first home game of the 2021 spring season when it takes on Boston University on Thursday, April 1, at 6:00 p.m.
The Crusaders will recognize their four graduating seniors prior to the start of the game with the Terriers. Senior midfielder
Max Benford, senior goalkeeper
Nick Conklu, senior defender
Edi Mujan and senior
Jacob Wright will all be honored in a special pregame ceremony.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-1, 1-1 PL):
• Holy Cross stands 1-1 overall this season, having beaten Army West Point (2-1) while falling to Lafayette (2-1).
• Sophomore midfielder
Matt McGonigle currently leads the team in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist. He tallied a goal and an assist in the victory over Army West Point, after scoring the first goal of his collegiate career at Lafayette. McGonigle has now totaled two goals and three assists for seven points in 10 career games played.
• Junior midfielder
Dylan Scanley scored his first goal of the season during the victory at Army on March 20. He previously ranked second on the team in scoring during the 2019 campaign, when he totaled 11 points on five goals and one assist. In 35 career games played, Scanley has now totaled six goals and one assist for 13 points.
• Senior midfielder Max Kruase recorded his first point of the season with an assist on
Matt McGonigle's goal at Army. During the 2019 season, he led the team in scoring with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, Krause has played in 50 games with 39 starts, totaling eight goals and 13 assists for 29 points.
Scouting the Terriers (1-1, 1-1 PL):
• Boston University has an overall record of 1-1 so far this year. After defeating Colgate 3-0 in their season opener, the Terriers fell to Lafayette 3-2 last week.
• Sophomore forward Ronaldo Marshall has led the team in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist.
• Freshman midfielder Andrew Rent has also been playing well this year, totaling one goal and two assists for four points.
Series History:
• Boston University holds a 13-3-1 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
• The Crusaders and the Terriers last met on Oct. 2, 2019, with Holy Cross winning 1-0 in Boston as Krause scored the only goal of the game.
