Women’s lacrosse downed by Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Jolie Creo totaled seven points on four goals and three assists, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Boston University 17-12 at Nickerson Field. The Crusaders fall to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League with the loss, while the Terriers improve to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in the conference.

The game was close early on, before Holy Cross scored three straight goals to claim a 6-4 lead with 13:42 left in the first half. Boston University scored the next three goals to pull back in front, and went on to take a 10-7 lead at the break.

The Terriers started the second half by scoring three consecutive goals to increase their lead to 13-7 with 26:38 remaining. The Crusaders were unable to trim the margin to less than four goals the rest of the way, with Boston University eventually posting a 17-12 victory.

Sophomore Christine Fabrizi, sophomore Jenna Giardina and senior Izzy Grant all scored two goals on the day, while senior Catherine Guanci added a goal and an assist. Ava Barry, Jennifer Barry and Mackenzie Irvine led the Terriers with three goals each.

Holy Cross will return to action on Thursday, April 1, when it plays host to Army West Point at 1:00 p.m.
