WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross swimming and diving team split a virtual meet against American in its first competition of the 2020-21 season. Both teams competed in their own pools and compared results afterwards to determine the winners of each event.
The Crusader women pulled off the 160-139 victory, while the men fell to American by a score of 175-104.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Holy Cross women won eight events on the day, while the men came away with four victories.
- Ayden Chanin and Greta Walting were each a part of two first place finishes. Chanin won the 200 free (1:55.29) and Walting took first in the 100 breast (1:06.41). They were also both a part of the 200 free relay team that came in first (1:42.01). Rowan Burgess and Emily Skilton rounded out that team.
- The Crusader women swept the top three spots in three different events: the 200 fly, 1 meter dive, and 3 meter dive.
- Emily Sullivan won the 200 back (2:12.18).
- Fiona Walsh took first in the 1000 free (11:20.67).
- On the men's side, four different Crusaders won their four events.
- Spencer Maher won the 1000 free (10:34.90) and was also a part of a second place finish in the 200 free relay along with Matthew Shea, Christopher Cerulli, and Ben Fox (1:31.68).
- Mack Sullivan claimed the victory in the 100 breast (1:01.04).
- Troy Dalton won the 3 meter dive (177.67) and Chris Clow did the same in the one meter dive (170.09).
UP NEXT:
The Crusaders will take on Providence next Sunday, March 21 at 1 p.m. The women will battle the Friars at home while the men will do the same but on the road.
