The Holy Cross volleyball team will take on Army West Point in a two-game series beginning on Friday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Blaney Gymnasium.
The Crusaders will then travel to West Point, N.Y. on Sunday, March 14 for a match at 4 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS:
- The Crusaders enter this two-game series sitting at 2-2 on the season. Holy Cross opened the season with two wins over Lafayette and then dropped two contests against Colgate last weekend.
- Senior libero Sophie VanSeveren is the program's new all-time career digs leader after passing Emily Popp '17 over the past weekend. VanSeveren now has 1,399 digs and counting in her Holy Cross career.
- Junior outside hitter Johnna Shamley leads the Crusaders with 46 kills and has hit double-digit kills in every match this season. Shamley is averaging 3.07 kills per set, the seventh-best mark in the Patriot League.
- The Crusaders have the second-best hitting percentage (.213) in the Patriot League.
SCOUTING ARMY:
- The Black Knights are 1-1 on the season so far after splitting a series with Colgate.
- Hannah Pressley has posted 60 assists so far for the Black Knights, along with 14 kills through two games.
- Monica Eckford leads Army with 22 kills and was selected to the Patriot League Preseason All-League Team.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- Army took both meetings during the 2019 season, winning both matches 3-1.
- Shannon Dwyer posted a double-double in both meetings in 2019. In the first meeting she had 34 assists and 17 digs and 35 assists and 11 digs in the second.
- In the first meeting, Johnna Shamley also posted a double-double with 20 digs and 12 kills.
