Women's basketball set to face Boston University

The Holy Cross women's basketball team is set for three games in five days against Boston University, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. in Boston.

The Crusaders will return home for their Senior Day contest on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m., and then travel to Boston for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Sunday.

All three games will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.

Holy Cross (6-5, 6-5 Patriot League) at a Glance:
  • In Holy Cross' most recent contest, the Crusaders pulled away in the second half for a 61-40 victory over Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 13.
  • The Crusaders held the Raiders to just 12 points in the second half to earn their third victory this season by a margin of 20 or more points. Of the Crusaders' six wins this season, five have come by a double-digit margin.
  • Holy Cross posted season highs in blocks (5), assists (17), 3-pointers made (10) and 3-point percentage (.455) in the win, while also holding Colgate to the fewest points by a Holy Cross opponent this year.
  • Four Crusaders finished in double figures in the win over Colgate, led by freshman Bronagh-Power Cassidy, who had 13 points and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season. Juniors Avery LaBarbera (12 points), Oluchi Ezemma (10 points) and Madison Demski (10 points) also hit double digits, with Demski matching her career high.
  • Prior to Saturday's contest, Holy Cross will recognize senior center Shannon Murphy as part of Senior Day.
Boston University (8-1, 8-1 Patriot League) at a Glance:
  • BU posted a pair of victories against Army West Point over the weekend, recording an 82-41 win on Saturday and a 65-53 win on Sunday, Feb. 14. Maggie Pina led the Terriers with a 15-point and 11-point performance in the two games, respectively.
  • After not playing any games from Jan. 18 until Feb. 6, the Terriers are undefeated in their last three games. BU's lone loss this season came back on Jan. 17 against Army.
  • The Terriers boast the league's best defense, holding their opponents to an average of just 50.9 points per game. BU also leads the Patriot League with a .464 field goal percentage as a team while also averaging a conference-best 9.2 steals per game.
  • Katie Nelson leads the Patriot League with an average of 4.8 assists per contest and a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Last Time They Met:
  • In the opening series of the 2021 season, Boston University came out on top in both games; the Terriers won 76-54 in Boston on Jan. 4 before earning a 72-56 win on Jan. 5.
  • Freshman Cara McCormack hit double figures in both games, with 11 points in the opener and 18 points – including four 3- pointers – in the Jan. 5 contest.
  • Nelson led the way for the Terriers in that series, recording a total of 37 points between the two games.
