Women's hockey ready to face UConn

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team will take on UConn in a pair of games this weekend. The Crusaders will travel to Connecticut on Friday for a 5 p.m. matchup before returning home on Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest.

Both games will be available for free on collegesportslive.com.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS:
  • The Crusaders will look to rebound this weekend against the Huskies. The only other time they allowed double digit goals in game in their Hockey East history they returned to win the following contest.
  • If Holy Cross was to defeat UConn in either one of two games this weekend, it would be the third team this season the Crusaders would have defeated for the first time in program history. They already have wins against Maine and New Hampshire this year, two teams they were winless against before the 2020-21 campaign.
  • Millie Sirum will look to become the second Crusader, and second freshman, to reach the 10-point mark this season. She currently sits at nine from five goals and four assists. Bryn Saarela leads the team with 10 points.
  • Jada Brenon moved into second place in program history last weekend with 2,028 career saves. She sits 365 saves behind Jenelle DiSanto who holds the program record.
SCOUTING UCONN:
  • The Huskies recently snapped a four-game losing streak when they beat Maine 3-0 last Friday. In that stretch of games, they were outscored 11-3.
  • Viki Harkness leads UConn this season with 12 points from three goals and nine assists. The always dangerous Natalie Snodgrass has five goals and four assists on the year.
  • Tia Chan and Samantha Carpenter-Yelle have split time in goal, with Chan the slightly better marks of .944 and 1.61 in save percentage and goals against average respectively.
  • The Huskies have scored on 11.5% of their power plays and killed 85.7% of their penalties.
