WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
John Nascimben broke the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving program record in the 100-yard individual medley as the Crusaders fell 194-99 to Patriot League counterpart Boston University on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.
Nascimben crossed the finish line in 55.43 with a first 50 yard split of 26.20. He smashed a 34 year school record set by Rich Schoeb at Bridgewater in 1987 who completed the medley in 57.19. Nascimben also competed in the 50-yard breaststroke totaling a 27.36 for second place.
Freshman
Patrick Walsh brought home first for the Crusaders in the 500-yard freestyle tallying a time of 4:44.30. Walsh dove out of the gate and timed a 26.39 first 50-yard split and turned it on during the final 50 yards with his second fastest split (27.99)
In the 200-yard individual medley, sophomore
Charlie Nascimben placed first (2:01.06) while he came in second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.03).
Holy Cross will be off for the next month and they return to the pool on Tuesday, January 18th at conference opponent Colgate at 12:00 p.m.
