WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to the American Eagles, 3-0, on Saturday evening in Blaney Gymnasium. The set scores were 25-9, 25-22, 25-19.
Freshman
Sarah Stokes had a season-high 23 assists to lead all Holy Cross (2-24, 1-14 PL) players. Freshman
Abbie Lane had a team-high six kills, while
Skye Daval-Santos tallied 13 digs. Freshmen classmates
Rian Millership and
Mia Hofacker each posted three blocks.
American (16-12, 10-5 PL) was led by Zeynep Uzen who tallied a game-high 16 kills and two aces. Tyra Areskoug had 26 assists for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- American got out to a hot start and took set one, 25-9. The Crusaders battled back in set two and took an 11-4 lead early. The Eagles would then power through to take set two, 25-22.
- In the final set, Holy Cross once again jumped out to an early lead, 8-4. American then took 10 of the next 13 points to take a 14-11 lead. The Eagles closed out the set 25-19 to win the match, 3-0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Stokes has now reached double-digit assists in six matches.
- Hofacker has posted three blocks in back-to-back games.

The Crusaders will close out their 2021 season at Lehigh on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m.
