Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Holy Cross edged by Merrimack

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to the Merrimack Warriors, 3-2, on Tuesday night at Hart Center Rink in non-conference action.

Merrimack (6-7-0), scored two first period goals to get an early jump on the Crusaders (2-11-1). Sophomore Jack Ricketts tallied the lone goal of the second period to cut the Crusader deficit to 2-1, off a power play goal. Senior Ryan Leibold and sophomore Lucas Thorne tallied assists on the goal.

Merrimack once again extended its lead to two with a goal just over five minutes into the final frame. Junior Alex Peterson then lit the lamp for the first time this season to bring the Crusaders back within one. Sophomore Alec Cicero and junior Nick Hale had helpers on the goal. The Crusaders pulled their goaltender, senior Erik Gordon, for an extra attacker in the final minutes but were unable to equalize against the Warriors.

Gordon finished the day with 24 saves, while senior Bryce Dolan tied to lead all players with four blocks.
