Crusaders cruise past Connecticut College

WORCESTER, Mass.— Powered by senior Oluchi Ezemma's career-high 21 points, the Holy Cross women's basketball team cruised to a 79-36 victory over Connecticut College on Monday night at the Hart Center.

Ezemma went 9-for-10 from the field and added on four rebounds to her career night. Senior Avery LaBarbera had a season-high 10 boards to lead all players, while junior Addisyn Cross had a career-high six assists. Sophomore Steph Davis tallied a season-high with eight rebounds and six points.

As a team, the Crusaders grabbed 60 boards, marking the first time Holy Cross has grabbed over 60 rebounds since Dec. 5, 1998 against Rider.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Crusaders started out slow and allowed the Camels to jump out to a 5-0 lead. Ezemma then quickly scored her first points of the game, the Crusaders would slowly build their lead and ended the quarter with a 19-13 advantage.
  • Holy Cross' highest offensive output came in the second quarter with the Crusaders tallying 24 points and allowing just three points from the Camels. Ezemma tallied 10 of her points in the quarter and led the Crusaders to a 43-16 lead at the half.
  • The Camels cut their deficit to 25 in the third quarter, but they wouldn't come any closer as the Crusaders ended the quarter leading 61-31.
  • In the final frame, the Crusaders went on a 10-0 run to get things started and closed out the game with a 79-36 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Sophomore Cara McCormack made her first appearance of the season.
  • Freshman Lauren Huber recorded her first collegiate points against the Camels.
  • Ezemma recorded all 21 of her points in just 17 minutes of action.
  • Freshman Grace Munt tallied the first two blocks of her career to lead all players against Connecticut College.

  • The Crusaders will return to action after Thanksgiving on the road at Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m.
