DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc totaled 18 points, six rebounds and three assists, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Bryant 78-62 at the Ocean Center in the Sunshine Slam. The Crusaders fall to 1-4 overall, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-3 on the year.
Sophomore guard
Judson Martindale finished the game with 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots, while sophomore guard
DáJion Humphrey added 12 points, two assists and two steals. Bryant was led by Peter Kiss with 35 points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Bulldogs opened the game by jumping out to an early 13-4 lead after the first 8:16 of action. The Crusaders scored the next five points to close the gap, and later trailed 33-25 with one minute left before the break. Bryant then closed out the half with a 6-0 run to take a 14-point lead (39-25) into the locker room.
The Bulldogs stayed hot at the start of the second half, using a 13-0 spurt to take a commanding 52-25 advantage. Bryant was later up 68-37 with 8:48 remaining, when Holy Cross went on a 16-2 run to get back into the game. But the Crusaders were not able to get any closer than 16 points down the stretch, as the Bulldogs held on for the win.
Holy Cross made just 37.1 percent of its field goal attempts and 66.7 percent of its free throws on the afternoon. Bryant was able to connect on 45.0 percent of its shots from the floor and 77.3 percent of its attempts at the charity stripe.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 24, when they play host to Mount St. Vincent at 1:00 p.m.

• Luc tied his career-high by scoring 18 points and set a new career-best with his six rebounds.
• Martindale's nine rebounds were the highest total of his collegiate career.
• Humphrey tied his career high by scoring 12 points.
• Luc earned a spot on the Sunshine Slam All-Tournament Team after scoring 33 points in two games.
