ROCHESTER, N.Y.— The Holy Cross men's hockey team dropped the series-opening game against the RIT Tigers, 3-2, on Friday night at Gene Polisseni Center.
Holy Cross (2-9-1, 2-4-1 AHA) opened the scoring in the game after junior
Mike Higgins got on the board at the 12:21 mark of the first period. Just over five minutes later, RIT (6-5-2, 4-3-2 AHA) would even the score at 1-1.
The Tigers then went on to score the lone goal of the second period and another tally in the third to take a 3-1 lead. As the final minutes of the third period started, the Crusaders went on the power play and pulled goaltender
Matt Radomsky for an extra attacker. Sophomore
Lucas Thorne then scored a power-play tally with under 30 seconds left to play to bring the score to 3-2.
Holy Cross wasn't able to find the game-tying goal and RIT ended up with the victory in game one of the two-game series. Radomsky finished with 22 saves, while junior
Grayson Constable led all players with three blocks.
