Women's hockey comes up short at BU

BOSTON – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team took an early lead, but Boston University rallied in the third to take a 3-1 victory on Friday, Nov. 12 at Walter Brown Arena.

Junior right wing Darci Johal scored a goal for the third straight game in the first period to give Holy Cross (2-11-0, 1-8-0) the lead, and after a scoreless second, the Terriers (6-4-3, 5-3-3) had three goals in the closing frame, including an empty-netter, to earn the win.

Sophomore goaltender Madison Beck made 25 saves on the night. For BU, Mackenna Parker scored a pair of goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Johal converted after a crisp pass from sophomore left wing Lilly Feeney to give the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage at 12:06 of the first.
  • The Terriers had a pair of power-play goals at 2:57 and 6:00 of the third period to take a 2-1 lead.
  • BU added an empty netter with 30.3 seconds left in the contest to extend the lead to 3-1.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Johal extends her team-leading goal total to five on the year; all five goals have come in the last seven games.
  • Fortunato has four points in the last three games after a three-assist weekend.
UP NEXT:
  • The Crusaders will face Boston College on Nov. 19.
  • Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. in Chestnut Hill.
