WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to the Colgate Raiders, 3-0, on Saturday evening in Blaney Gymnasium.
Junior
Gracyn Benck led all Holy Cross (2-21, 1-11 PL) players with eight kills, while senior
Skye Daval-Santos led all players with 15 digs. Freshman
Sarah Stokes and junior
Halle Carter each reached double-digits in assists, with 12 and 10 respectively.
Colgate (14-8, 11-2 PL), was led by Libby Overmyer who posted 11 kill kills and Sydney Jones who tallied 18 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In set one, Colgate jumped out to a 6-3 lead before the Crusaders battled back to come within one, with the score at 7-6. The Raiders then took six of the next eight points home to take a 13-8 lead and closed out the set with a 25-15 victory.
- Set two proved to be the tightest set, with the Crusaders and Raiders all knotted up at 13-13. Colgate then used two separate four-point runs to eventually take home set two, 25-18. The Raiders then closed out the match with a 25-14 win in set three.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Stokes' 12 assists match a season-high.
- Daval-Santos tied to lead all players with two aces, both coming back-to-back in the third set.
- Senior Johnna Shamley appeared in her first set this season and recorded two kills and two digs.
