WORCESTER, Mass. — Freshman
Caroline Fredey won her team-leading seventh singles match of the season, but the Holy Cross women's tennis team was defeated by Vassar 4-1 at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders fall to 4-2 on the year, while the Brewers are now 1-0 in dual match action.
Vassar began the day by winning all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Fredey posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Nicole Pihlstrom at No. 6 sinlges to get Holy Cross on the board, but the Brewers won the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches to clinch the overall win. The Crusaders were up a set and a break at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles, before those matches were stopped due to rain.
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20, when it plays host to Assumption at 3:30 p.m. in its final match of the fall.
