WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross women's hockey team fell to the Maine Black Bears, 4-2, on Friday night at the Hart Center Rink in Hockey East action.
Holy Cross (1-8-0, 0-5-0 HE) opened the scoring with
Millie Sirum's goal in the first frame, Maine (3-7-0, 1-4-0 HE) went on to score two goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into the final period. Sirum's tally came as she picked off a pass from Maine and fired it past the goaltender.
The Black Bears opened the scoring in the third with a goal from Alyssa Wruble.
Darci Johal then potted her second goal of the season, with helpers from
Lilly Feeney and
Grace Johnson to bring the score to 3-2. Johnson's assist marked the first point of her collegiate career.
Maine went on to score an empty-net goal in the final 11 seconds of the game to push the final score to 4-2.
Jada Brenon made 27 saves on the night, while Maine's Loryn Porter posted 32 saves.
