EASTON, Pa.— The Holy Cross volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Lafayette on Saturday evening.
Junior Graycn Benck led Holy Cross (2-20, 1-10) with 10 kills. Junior
Halle Carter had a team-high 17 assists, while senior
Skye Daval-Santos led all Crusaders with 13 digs.
Lafayette's (11-7, 8-2) Leanne Deegan led all players with 25 kills and Alyssa Vitale had 53 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders got out to a hot start against Lafayette and used a 6-0 scoring run to take a 12-7 lead over the Leopards. Holy Cross then took five of the final six points to close out set one with a 25-18 victory.
- Lafayette tied the match up at 1-1 with a 25-13 victory in set two. The Leopards then took set three, 25-14, to take a 2-1 match lead.
- In the final set, Holy Cross led 9-7 and then were caught in a back-and-forth affair with the Leopards. Lafayette closed out the match with four straight points to win the set 25-18 and 3-1 overall.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Junior Emma VanSeveren set a new career-high with 11 digs.
- Carter had a season-high two aces.

- The Crusaders will return home to host Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.
