WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore
Charlie Nascimben and freshman
Patrick Walsh both won two events as the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team finished in second place at the Worcester City Championship. The Crusaders recorded a total of 544 points, while Worcester Polytechnic Institute won the meet with 662 points.
Nascimben captured first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.16), while Walsh won the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.66) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:55.25). Other event winners for Holy Cross were freshman
Rory Hess in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.55) and senior
Ben Vesey in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.97).
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday, Oct. 29, when they play host to Fairfield at 5:00 p.m.

Walsh broke a 19-year old school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with his time of 9:55.25. He bettered the mark of
Mike Emmons (10:01.66), which was set against Vermont in 2002.
