WALTHAM, Mass.— Holy Cross head men's ice hockey coach
Bill Riga earned his first victory as a head coach in the Crusaders 3-2 victory over Atlantic Hockey foe Bentley on Saturday evening at Bentley Arena.
Holy Cross (1-4-1, 1-2-1) scored all three of its goals in the first period and never looked back to claim three Atlantic Hockey points over Bentley (3-3-0, 1-1-0) and split the home-and-home series with the Falcons.
Junior
Grayson Constable lit the lamp for the first time this season as he opened the scoring just over six minutes into the game. Sophomore Jack MacNab and senior
Matt Slick were credited with helpers on the goal. Sophomore
Tyler Ghirardosi then potted his goal on the power play with assists from sophomore
Matt Guerra and senior
Ryan Leibold to push the score to 2-0.
MacNab scored his first career goal, which also marked the Crusaders final goal and eventual game-winner, with an assist from sophomore
Lucas Thorne. Bentley eventually got two back, scoring one in the second and one in the third, but couldn't pull even with the Crusaders.
Freshman
Thomas Gale picked up his first career win in goal, posting 17 saves on the evening.
