LEWISBURG, Pa.— The Holy Cross volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-2 match against Bucknell on Friday night in Patriot League action.
Senior
Skye Daval-Santos set a career-high with 32 digs for Holy Cross (2-19, 1-9 PL). Freshman
Abbie Lane tallied a double-double with a season-high 21 digs and 12 kills. Junior
Halle Carter also posted a double-double with 19 digs and 28 assists.
Bucknell (6-13, 2-8 PL) was led by Sarah Ramirez who posted a game-high 37 assists. Jen Sivak also tallied five blocks for the Bison.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Gracyn Benck posted six of her 13 kills during set one, including three in a row during a six-point Crusader run that helped Holy Cross gain the lead at 8-6. A back-and-forth battle the rest of the way, Holy Cross won five of the final six points of the set to take set one, 25-23.
- Holy Cross jumped out to an early 11-5 lead before Bucknell rallied back to come within one. The Crusaders then took control of the set and won, 25-20.
- Set three was a game of small runs for each side, with Bucknell distancing themselves in the end to win 25-22. Bucknell then tied the match at 2-2 with a 25-16 win in the fourth set.
- In the final set, Bucknell used a three-point and then a four-point run to take the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Lane led all players with three service aces, while Benck led all players with 13 kills.
- Carter has now posted six double-doubles, and Lane has tallied five double-doubles this season.
UP NEXT:
The Crusaders will face Lafayette on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. to complete their Pennsylvania road trip.
