HAMILTON, N.Y.— The Holy Cross volleyball team dropped to the Colgate Raiders, 3-0, on Saturday evening at Cotterell Court.
Junior
Emma VanSeveren tied a career-high with 10 digs to lead the Crusaders (1-16, 0-6 Patriot League) against Colgate (7-7, 4-1 Patriot League). Freshman
Sarah Stokes tallied 10 assists to lead Holy Cross and senior
Skye Daval-Santos added one nine digs and two service aces.
Colgate's Libby Overmyer led all players with 11 kills, while Julia Kurkowski had 23 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Colgate got out to a hot start, and took set one 25-12.
- In the second set, the Crusaders battled back from being down 10-2, with a six-point run. The Raiders eventually pulled away and won the set, 25-18.
- Holy Cross and Colgate were locked in a back-and-forth third set early on, before the Raiders went on a five-point run to push the score to 14-10. Colgate went on to win, 25-18.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Stokes tallied 10 assists, marking her third-straight game with double-digit assists.
- VanSeveren's 10 digs tied a career and season-high for the junior.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders will play at Navy on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
