The Holy Cross men's soccer team will play its second straight home game when it faces Bucknell at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (7-3-2, 4-1-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 7-3-2 so far this season with a 4-1-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are currently in a tie for first place in the conference with Navy.
• The Crusaders own a 6-0-0 mark in home games so far this year, and have won seven straight contests at home dating back to last season. This marks Holy Cross' longest home winning streak since it posted eight consecutive home victories from Oct. 24, 2000-Nov. 16, 2001.
• Senior midfielder
Max Krause is now in his fifth year with the Crusaders, after earning first team All-Patriot League honors in the spring of 2021. He currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 10 points on two goals and six assists. During the Lehigh game, Krause recorded the 19th assist of his collegiate career, breaking the school record which had been held by Wayne Mullin (18 assists, 1985-1988). He has now totaled 11 goals and 19 assists for 41 points in 63 career games played (51 starts), to rank 13th in school history in points.
• Freshman forward
Evan Jones leads the team in scoring with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Four of his goals have come in the last seven games, including the game winner in Sunday's victory over Lehigh. Jones' 14 points on the year are currently the most of any freshman in the Patriot League and the sixth most of any freshman in the nation.
• Junior
Jimmy Joyce has started all 12 of Holy Cross' games in goal this season, posting a 7-3-2 record with 33 saves and a 1.23 goals against average. He has also recorded four shutouts on the year, the most recent coming in the 1-0 victory over Lehigh. In addition, Joyce set a new career high with six saves at Iona.
• Senior forward
Dylan Scanley ranks third on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists, including two goals and one assist in the last four games. He scored the game-winning goal during Holy Cross' 1-0 victory at Loyola, then tallied a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win over Colgate. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Scanley has totaled nine goals and four assists for 22 points in 49 games played.
• Krause, junior midfielder
Matt McGonigle and junior defender
Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.
Scouting the Bison (4-7-2, 2-2-1 Patriot League):
• Bucknell stands 4-7-2 overall this season, with a 2-2-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Bison are coming off a 4-0 loss to Syracuse on Monday night.
• Sophomore forward Jordan Miller currently leads the team in scoring with six goals for 12 points.
• Junior Bennett Schwartz has started 12 games in goal for Bucknell, posting a 1.43 goals against average with 49 saves.
Series History:
• The Bison hold a 13-10-7 lead in the all-time series between the schools, including two straight victories.
• The schools last met on Oct. 13, 2019, when Bucknell won 2-1 in Worcester.
